Revision Spine Surgery
What is Revision Spine Surgery?
If you have had surgery for your back condition elsewhere but find you are still in pain or have other persistent symptoms, you might opt to undergo Revision Spine Surgery. The goal is to relieve your pain from previous surgery.
“Dr. Brisson is highly experienced in performing complex revision surgeries that require removal of failed previously inserted implants and hardware and correction of a failed fusion that requires reinsertion of new hardware, implants and additional bone graft material.” – Theresa Glammorino, Physician’s Assistant
Each patient’s condition is unique and your need for revision and correction will be carefully assessed by Dr. Brisson. If your symptoms went away for a period of time but later returned, it may not be a “failed” surgery, but rather a new condition that has happened and is causing you pain.
Dr. Brisson will help you decide the best course of action after performing a physical examination, taking your detailed medical and surgical history and after assessing diagnostic tests (such as an X-ray or an MRI) that he may order.
Sometimes you can be treated without revision surgery using non-invasive means to control pain and other symptoms. No matter what treatment you’ve had before, Dr. Brisson will listen compassionately to how you are feeling today, and help you make the right choice for your optimal back or neck health.
“Dr. Brisson came very highly recommended, and I could not agree more! He was very caring, compassionate and took the time to explain to me & my husband exactly what surgery I needed and how he would do it. After my surgery he was very busy, but knew I had questions, so he came back to the hospital at 11:00pm to answer all of my questions, he also showed up the next morning, got me out of bed himself, and sat and spoke to me for some time. Dr. Brisson’s office staff has also been great! Every time I call the office they are so friendly and help me with whatever I need!” – Laura H.
